Landscapes frozen in time

These images were captured in late February 2022 after an overnight stop in Dumbarton for our group on the way to Aviemore. The snow came in so we rerouted via Glencoe the following morning.  We were able to take advantage of the superb conditions capturing images of Buachaille Etive Mòr with spindrift off the summit.  Blackrock Cottage was dressed in fresh snow and Lagangarbh Cottage appeared dwarfed in the expanse of the landscape. One bit of advice is always to be prepared to change plans as the weather conditions change.

Scottish Highlands in the snow

"He who has suffered shipwreck, fears to sail upon the seas, though with a gentle gale."

- Robert Herrick

These images were captured locally in Suffolk at Pin Mill on the Orwell Estuary, a popular location with a good diversity of landscapes available to shoot.

The glacier-carved lake of Ullswater

A favourite area to find weather-inspired images helped by being able to stay in the picturesque area of Keswick. I have spent many autumn seasons in these landscapes, enjoying the fall colours.  They are always stunning and help the composition of images.
